What an immense weekend! As many of you know, this weekend marked one of the highlights of the sporting year, both on the field and behind the scenes for our teams across the company.
As England triumphed by the narrowest of margins at Lord’s, an epic final played out at Wimbledon, and Formula E reached its season finale in New York. However, none of these would have been watched by many hundreds of thousands of spectators across their duration were it not for the continued dedication of the Ticketmaster team in both the UK and beyond.
Formula E saw a season of 13 races across 12 countries from China to Chile and everywhere in between, with Ticketmaster providing a multi-lingual, multi-currency ticketing site and ticketing platform for the championships. Our team did an awesome job in supporting Formula E throughout their season, including race day support at multiple events. Now in its fifth season, Formula E shows no sign of slowing, and we are proud to be their global ticketing partner.
It was a year of great change at Wimbledon, in a year that saw us deliver ticketing for their launch event on their new No.1 Court, with digital ticketing enabled for the first time at the All England Club. We then quickly rolled into Championships mode encompassing a complex and wide-ranging delivery schedule across on-day sales, online sales, Paperless, access control, player’s ticket sales and ticket collections. A team of over 35 people onsite for the Championships ensured that we powered through the 13 days with our usual dedication and diligence. Huge thanks to the team for managing a complex online sales process for both qualifying and the Championships. A huge team effort where we helped Wimbledon break records.
Finally, Cricket World Cup 2019 came to a thrilling end after 49 matches (thanks to a reserve day semi-final) played out across 11 venues over an intense 6 week period. This project has been a huge collaboration over the last 2 years, which saw us achieve ticket sales well in excess of our targets, world-class technology and products, venue installations, match day support, customer service, fulfilment and much more.
Everybody has put their heart and soul into these incredible events, I am so proud of the incredible talented team here at Ticketmaster and once again we have showcased again why we are the best in the business.
Pan Am Games 2019 starts in 9 days, onwards and upwards!
