My history with Ticketmaster started nearly 20 years ago when at Goldsmiths College studying Anthropology & Communications I took on a part time job within the call centre in Leicester Square. The flexible hours worked really well for me and Ticketmaster was a cool place to work with a great mix of creative people working with a wide variety of clients. From Arsenal Football Club to concerts and (what was then) the Nynex Arena in Manchester and theatres across the West End, the daily role matched my interests. That really helps halfway through an 11-hour Saturday shift.
After college, I moved full time through a variety of roles including Customer Service, Event Programming and Client Account Management. In Customer Services I personally handled all written customer correspondence for the company – something we now have lots of people handling daily for the business. That’s the business growing not the complaints!
My role in Client Account Management was primarily across our Sports clients handling the online ticket sales for many football clubs including Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton and in particular the Football Association with England who were “touring” matches across the country whilst Wembley Stadium was being rebuilt. Being the sole box office for Stadiums across the country was exhilarating and terrifying in equal measures. The 8.55am nerves stay with you.
It was in 2000 that the business seemed to go up a level in size and direction by acquiring independent ticket agent TicketWeb. During this period I took on a Sales Executive position in a newly formed sales team working across both the TicketWeb and Ticketmaster technologies to find the best match for what potential clients needed. My position evolved from Sales Exec to heading up the Sales team and then most recently as VP Music & Comedy, managing our client relationships right across the business.
In that time I have been fortunate enough to work with many incredible clients and events. Early accounts included Lock n Load and the birth of South West Four from the basement of Turnmills nightclub 12 years ago, to launching TicketWeb as the box office for KOKO as it re-launched from the Camden Palace. Seeing new events, tours and venues from inception to success with fans walking through turnstiles and doors continues to be what I love most about the role. No more so than this year and seeing our most recent client the Hydro in Glasgow in action last weekend. An amazing building.
Now, as Managing Director, I aim to draw on the knowledge that I have built across our business to really drive it forward and be the best that we can be. Together with the rest of the Ticketmaster team, who all have our clients’ and customers’ best endeavours at heart. I look forward to working with you and please do not hesitate to get in touch should you need anything at all.
